The 10.80-acre site was part of the reclamation excavation pit for Venice Minerals, Inc. mining operation. Part of the site had been previously filled with tree trunks and vegetation stripping from the mining operation, part of the site was a lake that needed to be filled and part of the site was heavily wooded with trees. M&A recommended to our client that the trees be removed and the remainder of the site that was under water be filled.
After stripping, removing the trees and filling of the site, M&A prepared a land plan including landscaping for our clients approval. We then designed all of the roads, stormwater management system including dry retention ponds, storage and treatment in roadside ditches. Since the project site was in the 100 year 24 hour flood plain we had to furnish compensating storage which was accomplished by written legal descriptions for compensating volume in the Venice Minerals, Inc operating mining pit.
The site plan consisted of the two entrance roads, the dry retention and treatment ponds, the office building and parking area, the asphalt plant, the machine shop repairing area and the material storage area.
After completion of the civil engineering design and specifications M&A prepared all of the necessary permits for approval from the Sarasota County Government, Southwest Florida Water Management District, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Sarasota County Health Department and the Army Corp of Engineers.
After completion and approval of the plans and specifications, M&A did all of the construction staking, construction administration, preparation of as-built drawings and certification of substantial completion for the project.
